spritesheet

Tiled game graphics

A spritesheet is a single image file containing multiple smaller graphics arranged in a grid, used in video games and animation.

Rather than loading hundreds of separate image files, developers pack characters, objects, and animation frames into one sheet, then display portions of it as needed.

The technique improves performance and simplifies asset management: The walking animation uses frames 0-7 on the spritesheet.
