speedballing
Mixing uppers, downers
Speedballing is the dangerous practice of combining a stimulant and a depressant drug, most classically cocaine and heroin injected together.
The cocaine provides an intense rush while the heroin smooths the edges and prolongs the high.
The combination is notoriously lethal—the drugs mask each other's warning signs, leading to overdose: He died speedballing in a hotel room.
