come-down

Fall from grace

A come-down is a descent to a lower status or condition, especially an anticlimactic one: After running a department, this job feels like a come-down.

The term also describes the unpleasant aftereffects of drug use as the high wears off: The come-down from ecstasy can last a day or two.
