something
An indefinite thing
Something is a great general purpose pronoun that can take the place of a noun (other than one designating a person) when the noun in question isn’t specified yet: Can you make something for dinner?
Something can refer to a person in a predicate to indicate someone important or noteworthy: Have you met her uncle? He’s really something. Something is typically used in positive, declarative sentences, with its counterpart anything being used in questions and negative sentences.
