smallholdings
Modest agricultural parcels
Smallholdings are small farms, typically just a few acres, often worked by a single family for subsistence or modest income rather than large-scale commercial agriculture.
The term is more common in British English: They raised chickens and vegetables on their smallholding.
A person who works such land is a smallholder.
