sixteenth note

Fraction of measure

A sixteenth note is a musical note lasting one-sixteenth of a whole note, or one-quarter of a beat in common time.

It's written with a filled oval, a stem, and two flags (or two beams when grouped).

Sixteenth notes create rapid, driving rhythms: The pianist's fingers flew through the sixteenth-note passage.
