half note
Two-beat musical symbol
A half note is a musical note with a duration equal to half of a whole note, or two quarter notes.
In standard 4/4 time, a half note receives two beats.
It's written as an open oval note head with a stem.
British English uses the term minim for the same note value.
The melody begins with two half notes before moving into faster rhythms.
