Single malt scotch is whisky made entirely from malted barley at a single distillery in Scotland.
The "single" refers to the distillery, not the barrel—most single malts are blended from multiple casks within that distillery.
Distinguished from blended scotch, which combines whiskies from different distilleries: He only drinks single malt scotch.
