Dunes that hum
Singing sands are beaches or dunes that produce musical sounds when walked on or when wind moves across them.
The phenomenon occurs when dry sand grains of uniform size rub together, creating squeaks, hums, or booming tones: The singing sands of the Gobi Desert can be heard for miles.
Also called whistling sands or barking sands depending on the sound produced.
