A shot fake is a deceptive move in basketball where a player mimics the motion of shooting without releasing the ball, hoping to draw the defender into jumping or lunging.
Once the defender commits, the offensive player can drive past them or create space for an actual shot: He pump-faked twice before finally going up.
Also called a pump fake.
