deking

Faking out defenders

Deking is a feint or fake, especially in hockey, used to mislead an opponent about your intended direction.

A player dekes by shifting weight or moving the puck one way before going another: He deked the goalie and scored.

The term extends beyond sports to any misdirection: She deked past the question.
