euro step
Lateral layup maneuver
A euro step is a basketball move where a ball handler takes two steps in different directions while driving to the basket, typically stepping one way to draw the defender, then stepping the other way to evade them.
The move creates space for a layup while staying within traveling rules: He euro-stepped past the center for an easy two points.
Named for its popularization by European players before spreading throughout the NBA.
