pull-up jumper
Stopping short, shooting
A pull-up jumper is a basketball shot where a player stops abruptly while dribbling and rises into a jump shot, rather than catching a pass or setting up stationary.
The move requires quick footwork and balance to create separation from defenders: He hit a pull-up jumper from the elbow with two seconds left.
It's a staple of skilled guards and scorers.
