shock jock
Controversial radio host
A shock jock is a radio broadcaster who attracts listeners through deliberately provocative, offensive, or taboo content—explicit sexual talk, crude humor, insults, or inflammatory political commentary.
The format thrives on transgression and outrage: Howard Stern was the original shock jock.
The term sometimes extends to similar personalities in podcasting or other media.
