Trash TV is lowbrow television programming designed more for shock value or guilty pleasure than artistic merit—talk shows featuring confrontations, reality shows exploiting personal drama, or tabloid-style exposés.
The term is mildly derogatory but often used affectionately: I spent Sunday watching trash TV and eating pizza.
