sex cell
Egg or sperm
A sex cell is a reproductive cell—a sperm or an egg—that carries half the genetic information needed to create offspring.
When two sex cells unite during fertilization, they combine their genetic material.
The technical term is gamete.
Sex cells are produced through a special type of cell division called meiosis.
