seedpods

Where beans develop

Seedpods are the dry, protective casings that form around seeds in many flowering plants, designed to hold seeds until they mature and then release or disperse them.

They come in countless shapes—from the slender pods of beans and peas to the papery capsules of poppies or the explosive pods of touch-me-nots.

When dried, seedpods often split open along seams, scattering their contents.

The milkweed seedpods burst open, releasing silky white fluff into the wind.
