Silver medal standing
Second position is a fundamental stance in ballet where the feet are turned outward and separated by roughly shoulder width, heels aligned.
The term extends to other dance forms and to violin technique, where it describes the hand placement on the fingerboard one position above first: She shifted smoothly into second position for the higher notes.
