demi-pointe
Raised heel position
Demi-pointe is a ballet position where the dancer rises onto the balls of the feet with heels lifted off the floor, but not fully onto the toes as in pointe.
It's the intermediate position between flat feet and full pointe: The students practiced relevé to demi-pointe before attempting pointe work.
Also called half-pointe.
