opinion column
Newspaper viewpoint essay
An opinion column is a regular feature in a newspaper or magazine where a writer expresses personal views on current events, politics, or culture.
Unlike news reporting, which aims for objectivity, opinion columns openly advocate positions and attempt to persuade readers.
The writer, called a columnist, typically appears on a recurring basis: Her opinion column runs every Tuesday.
