bloviating

Talking without substance

Bloviating is speaking at length in a pompous, self-important way, usually without saying much of substance.

The word suggests windbag oratory—someone who loves the sound of their own voice: He spent the whole meeting bloviating about his vision for the company.

Politicians are frequent targets of the accusation.
