sand bags
Weighted emergency dikes
Sandbags are cloth sacks filled with sand, used primarily to build temporary barriers against flooding or as military fortifications: Volunteers stacked sandbags along the riverbank.
The verb means to barricade with sandbags, or figuratively to coerce or bully someone, often through unfair tactics.
In poker and other contexts, to sandbag is to deliberately underperform or conceal strength to deceive opponents: He sandbagged in the early rounds, then crushed everyone in the finals.
