saddlecloth
Under the saddle
A saddlecloth is a cloth placed under a horse's saddle to absorb sweat and prevent chafing.
In horse racing, saddlecloths display the horse's number and sometimes the owner's colors: The jockey adjusted the saddlecloth before mounting.
