clear-out

Emptying the place

A clear-out is a thorough cleaning or removal of unwanted items: We're having a clear-out of the garage this weekend.

The term is more common in British English.

It can also describe the removal of people—clearing out an office of employees or a building of occupants: The new management conducted a clear-out of the old guard.
