A rug pull is a scam where someone abruptly withdraws support or resources after gaining trust, leaving others stranded.
The term comes from cryptocurrency, where developers abandon a project after investors buy in, taking the funds: The token turned out to be a rug pull—the creators vanished with millions.
More broadly, any sudden betrayal of trust: Management did a rug pull on the promised bonuses.
