ridgepoles
Tent top supports
Ridgepoles are the horizontal beams running along the peak of a roof, where the two sloping sides meet at the top.
The ridgepole is the highest structural element in traditional roof framing, supporting the upper ends of the rafters: The old barn's ridgepole had sagged with age.
In tent construction, the ridgepole is the central pole or beam holding up the roof.
