A ridgeback is a dog breed characterized by a distinctive ridge of hair growing in the opposite direction along the spine.
The Rhodesian ridgeback, originally bred in southern Africa for hunting lions, is the most recognized variety: Their ridgeback guarded the property.
Thai ridgebacks share this trait but are rarer outside Asia.
