resole
Repair shoe bottoms
To resole is to put a new sole on a shoe or boot, replacing the worn bottom layer.
The term applies to repair work on footwear worth maintaining: I had my hiking boots resoled rather than buying new ones.
A cobbler resoles; the owner gets shoes resoled.
