railroad trestle
Train support structure
A railroad trestle is a bridge structure supporting train tracks, typically made of a framework of wooden beams or metal girders arranged in a series of triangular supports.
Trestles span valleys, rivers, or other terrain where building a solid embankment would be impractical: The old railroad trestle still stands over the gorge.
The open framework distinguishes trestles from solid bridges.
