radiosensitivity
Cellular radiation vulnerability
Radiosensitivity is the degree to which living cells or tissues are affected by ionizing radiation.
Some cells are highly radiosensitive—cancer cells, bone marrow, and the lining of the gut—while others resist damage better.
The concept is central to radiation therapy, where doctors exploit the radiosensitivity of tumors to destroy them while sparing surrounding tissue.
