crankset

Bicycle drivetrain hub

A crankset is the assembly on a bicycle that converts pedaling into rotational motion.

It consists of the crank arms—the levers that attach to the pedals—and one or more chainrings (the toothed discs that engage the chain).

The crankset connects to the bottom bracket, which allows it to spin freely in the frame: I upgraded to a lighter crankset for hill climbing.
