welded joint

Heat-fused connection

A welded joint is a connection between metal pieces formed by melting and fusing them together, often with added filler material.

Unlike bolted or riveted joints, welded joints create continuous metal structures: The welded joints on the bridge frame showed no signs of stress.

In plumbing and pipefitting, welded joints provide leak-proof seals for high-pressure systems.
