plasma displays
Gas-filled panel screens
Plasma displays are flat-panel screens that create images using small cells of ionized gas—plasma—that emit light when electrically charged.
Popular for large televisions in the early 2000s, they offered superior contrast and color compared to LCD screens of that era.
Production largely ceased by 2014 as LCD and LED technology improved and became cheaper to manufacture.
