pygmy hippo

Small African ungulate

A pygmy hippo is a small hippopotamus native to West African forests and swamps, roughly a quarter the size of the common hippopotamus.

Unlike their larger relatives, pygmy hippos are solitary and spend more time on land than in water.

They're endangered, with only a few thousand remaining in the wild.
