predestined

Meant to happen

Predestined means determined in advance by fate or divine will.

Something predestined was always going to happen—the outcome was fixed before events unfolded: They seemed predestined to meet.

In theological contexts, predestined often refers to God's foreordaining of souls to salvation or damnation.

More loosely, it describes anything that feels inevitable: a predestined failure.
