Norns

Scandinavian destiny weavers

Norns are the three goddesses of fate in Norse mythology—Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld—who weave the destinies of gods and humans alike at the roots of Yggdrasil.

Like the Greek Fates or Roman Parcae, they represent past, present, and future.

The term appears in fantasy literature and games drawing on Norse sources: The Norns had already sealed his doom. (Lowercase norns may refer to the mythology or to specific products named after them.)
