hard determinism

No free will

Hard determinism is the philosophical position that all events, including human actions and decisions, are entirely caused by prior events and natural laws—and that this causal chain eliminates genuine free will.

Unlike compatibilists, who argue free will can coexist with determinism, hard determinists maintain the two are incompatible and side with determinism: Hard determinism suggests that praising or blaming people for their actions is ultimately incoherent.
