political-correctness
Inoffensive language norms
Political correctness is the practice of avoiding language or behavior that might offend or marginalize particular groups, especially regarding race, gender, sexuality, or disability.
The term is almost always used critically—by those who see such care as excessive, performative, or censorious: Political correctness has gone too far.
Defenders of the underlying principle rarely use the phrase, preferring terms like "inclusive language" or simply "respect."
