pogo

Bouncing stick toy

A pogo stick is a spring-loaded pole with footrests, used for bouncing locomotion.

To pogo is to jump up and down repeatedly in place—either on such a device or, more commonly now, as a style of punk rock dancing: The crowd pogoed through the entire set.

The dance emerged in 1970s punk clubs, mimicking the toy's motion.
