parikrama
Devotional clockwise walk
Parikrama is the Hindu and Buddhist practice of walking clockwise around a sacred site, temple, or object as an act of devotion.
The circumambulation may circle a shrine, mountain, or holy city, with pilgrims sometimes prostrating at intervals.
Devotees perform parikrama around the temple at dawn.
The practice appears in Jainism and Sikhism as well.
