palm-leaf

Fan-shaped tropical blade

Palm-leaf describes things made from or resembling the frond of a palm tree.

A palm-leaf fan is woven from dried palm fronds.

Palm-leaf manuscripts, used across South and Southeast Asia for centuries, were texts inscribed on prepared strips of palm leaf: ancient Buddhist scriptures preserved on palm-leaf.

The term also appears in architectural ornamentation mimicking the shape of palm fronds.
