heel spur
Bony foot protrusion
A heel spur is a bony growth that forms on the underside of the heel bone, often associated with plantar fasciitis.
The spur develops where the plantar fascia attaches to the heel, typically from repeated strain or calcium deposits.
Despite their fearsome appearance on X-rays, heel spurs themselves often cause no pain—the surrounding tissue inflammation is usually the culprit.
