outer space
Beyond the atmosphere
Outer space is the region beyond Earth's atmosphere where stars, planets, and galaxies exist.
The term distinguishes the cosmic void from the space around us on Earth: The satellite was launched into outer space.
Often shortened to just space: Space exploration began in the 1950s.
The adjective outer emphasizes distance from our familiar world.
