oil pump
Lubricant delivery device
An oil pump is a mechanical device that circulates lubricating oil through an engine or other machinery.
In vehicles, the oil pump draws oil from the pan and pushes it through passages to lubricate moving parts, preventing friction and overheating: The engine seized because the oil pump failed.
Oil pumps also appear in industrial equipment and hydraulic systems.
