oasthouse
Conical drying building
An oasthouse is a building designed for drying hops, the flowers used in brewing beer.
Traditional oasthouses have a distinctive conical or pyramidal kiln roof with a rotating cowl that catches the wind to regulate airflow.
Once common across hop-growing regions of England, many have been converted into homes: They bought a converted oasthouse in Kent.
