neurodermatitis
Itch-scratch skin condition
Neurodermatitis is a skin condition marked by chronic itching and scratching that thickens and darkens the affected area.
The itch-scratch cycle becomes self-perpetuating—stress or habit triggers scratching, which worsens the itch.
The condition often appears on the neck, wrists, ankles, or forearms: Her neurodermatitis flared up during exam week.
