tinea
Athlete's foot condition
Tinea is the medical term for ringworm—a fungal skin infection that appears as circular, scaly patches.
Despite the name, no worm is involved.
Different forms are named by location: tinea pedis is athlete's foot, tinea cruris is jock itch, tinea capitis affects the scalp.
The doctor diagnosed tinea and prescribed an antifungal cream.
