naval officers
Fleet command personnel
Naval officers are commissioned members of a nation's navy, holding ranks from ensign or lieutenant up through admiral.
They command ships, submarines, and shore installations, and lead enlisted sailors.
The term distinguishes them from enlisted personnel and from officers in other military branches: Several naval officers attended the ceremony in dress whites.
