mindshare

Share of awareness

Mindshare is the degree to which something occupies public awareness or attention.

Originally marketing jargon for how much mental space a brand claims relative to competitors, it now applies broadly: Apple has enormous mindshare among tech consumers.

A startup might lack market share but have significant mindshare if people are talking about it.

The term treats collective attention as a finite resource that companies, ideas, or movements compete for.
