agenda-setting
Determining discussion topics
Agenda-setting is the power to determine which topics receive attention and priority.
In politics and media studies, it describes how news coverage shapes not what people think but what they think *about*: The press may not tell you what to believe, but it's very good at telling you what to believe about.
More broadly, anyone who controls a meeting, platform, or conversation engages in agenda-setting by deciding what gets discussed and what gets ignored.
